This nugget was discovered at a remarkably rich gold deposit that has been worked intermittently since the original gold rush. The site has reopened multiple times over the years as gold prices have climbed and new technologies have made extraction viable once again. 

The mine is a small-scale alluvial operation one of the few in Western Australia’s remote outback capable of operating a wash plant. Uniquely, this wash plant can function in the harsh desert conditions thanks to an on-site bore that accesses a deep natural bore. Securing the permits to utilise this water source is a rare and difficult achievement.

A small family ran mine in the remote outback means their children do School Of The Air!, the mine consistently produces highly distinctive gold. In fact, seasoned prospectors often recognise its unique characteristics as unmistakably from the legendary Mine.
